If your short on time, there’s a great walk you can do to take in a handful of shrines and other attractions close by to Wakayama Castle. Starting at the Okaguchi-mon Gate in the southwest corner of the park, head south through Oka-koen Park to Sasutahiko-jinja Shrine. Two blocks down, take a right at the main road and head to Muryokoji Temple – also nearby are dozens more temples, so swing by these if you have time. Then head back up towards the castle by way of Hoonji Temple and the Okayama-no-jishodo Bell Tower.
